NFL Week 6 Preview

NY Giants @ New Orleans Saints
Spread: Saints, -3
o/u: 47
The Saints only managed 10 points on offense at home against the Jets in Week 4. Now they face another unbeaten NY team at home. The biggest difference between the Jets and Giants is the QB. New Orleans could force a rookie to make mistakes. Eli Manning won't have the same problems. The Giants defense will play just as well this week as the Jets did two weeks ago.
Pick: Giants 28 - Saints 17

Houston Texans @ Cincinnati Bengals
Spread: Bengals, -5.5
o/u: 46
Cedric Benson has been running wild this year, putting up strong numbers against top run defenses. Houston does not have a top run defense. What they have is the 26th-best run run defense. Run sets up pass, game over.
Pick: Bengals 28 - Texans 24

Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
Spread: Packers, -13.5
o/u: 47.5
The Packers are the team that capped last seasons 0-16 run by the Lions. While this is an improved Lions team, it looks like they will not have Matthew Stafford AND Calvin Johnson this week. And with the Packers frsh off of a bye week, 13.5 points might not be enough of a spread.
Pick: Packers 35 - Lions 17

St Louis Rams @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Spread: Jaquars, -10
o/u: 43
After last weeks blowout, shutout loss to Seattle, Jacksonville needs to get things back on track. Thankfully for them, they face the terrible Rams this week. This game probably won't be a high-scoring shootout, which means the Rams might just be in this one. They won't win, but they might keep it close.
Pick: Jaguars 24 - Rams 17

Baltimore Ravens @ Minnesota Vikings
Spread: Vikings, -3
o/u: 44.5
Baltimore seems to have regressed a bit this year. They seem to be giving up more points and yards per game than usual. Could it be the loss of Rex Ryan and some of the defensive players to the Jets? Whatever it is, they need to get things right after giving up their first 100-yard rushing game to Cedric Benson last week. Adrian Peterson wants to make it two weeks in a row. He might not get 100 yards this week, but he will be a big part of why the Vikings win.
Pick: Vikings 27 - Ravens 21

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Spread: Steelers, -14
o/u: 38
The Browns are terrible. Absolutely terrible. They got lucky beating the Bills last week, but the Steelers are a much better team than the Bills. The Steelers have won 11 straight over the Browns, and with Troy Polamalu back this week, they'll make it 12.
Pick: Steelers 28 - Browns 6

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Spread: Panthers, -3
o/u: 39
Carolina has the distinction of having the only win between these two teams. Tampa has not played up to the talent on their roster. Offensively, both teams have nearly identical stats. Its how bad the Buc's defense is that makes the difference here. They give up close to 400 yards a game, including 152 on the ground. And maybe the Carolina running game that was supposed to be good will finally look good in a gmae this year.
Pick: Panthers 17 - Buccaneers 10

Kansas City Chiefs @ Washington Redskins
Spread: Redskins, -6
o/u: 37
Washington has the distinction of being the first team in NFL history to open a season against six straight winless teams. They also have the distinction of only getting two wins against the first five. The fact that the second leading rusher on these two teams is their QB should give some insite into why a 6 point spread might be a bit much. In fact, after taking Dallas to overtime last week, this might be the week KC can put it together and get a win. Washington is just that bad.
Pick: Chiefs 17 - Redskins 10

Buffalo Bills @ NY Jets
Spread: Jets, -10
o/u: 36.5
The Bills lost last week to a team that completed 2 passes and threw 1 pick. The Jets are miles better than the Browns are, and they want to end their losing streak at 2. This is the week the Jets D goes back to being an elite D, after being embarassed by Miami last week. Alex Van Pelt's play calling for Buffalo will make sure of it.
Pick: Jets 24 - Bills 10

Philadelphia Eagles @ Oakland Raiders
Spread: Eagles, -14
o/u: 40.5
Brian Westbrook, Donovan McNabb, and DeSean Jackson are all hurting in one way or another. For the Raiders, the whole organization is hurting in one way or another, from the top down. Look for McNabb to put up big numbers early, and the Eagles to run away with it.
Pick: Eagles 35 - Raiders 13

Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks
Spread: Seahawks, -3
o/u: 46.5
The Seahwaks have two things going for them this week: the loudest building in the NFL, and Arizona's pass defense. The noise in Qwest Field has disrupted offenses all season, helping Seattle to two home shutouts. With Matt Hasselbeck looking fully healthy last week, he'll shread Arizona's defense, which is the leagues worst against the pass. If you have a fantasy team, start anyone in the Seahawks passing game this week.
Pick: Seahawks 38 - Cardinals 17

Tennessee Titans @ New England Patriots
Spread: Patriots, -9.5
o/u: 42.5
The Titans defense is terrible this year. While the Patriots haven't looked great, either, going against a terrible defense is good enough for the win.
Pick: Patriots 28 - Titans 13

Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcons
Spread: Falcons, -3.5
o/u: 45.5
The Falcons beat up on what looked like a very good 49ers defense last week, putting up 45 points, 35 in the first half. Though the Bears haven't looked as good since losing Brian Urlacher in Week 1, they're still giving up less that 100 yards rushing per game. Last season, Michael Turner struggled against good rush defenses in his first season as a starter. Maybe thats changed this year, after going for 97 yards and 3 TDs last week, but with the resurgence of Jay Cutler this year, the Bears still look better.
Pick: Bears 31 - Falcons 28
