College Football Championship Saturday Preview

1 Florida vs 2 Alabama - SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, GA
Favorite: Florida, -5.5
I want to tell you Florida will lose this game. I want to tell you Alabama's defense can and will stop Florida's offense. But I can't. Tim Tebow has basically carried the offense on his back all season. Once you get past him, there isn't much of an offense. Somehow, he has simply willed this team to win each and every week. Alabama has played well each and every week, and their defense is second to only Florida's. This will be the biggest game for both teams before the winner goes on to the National Championship, and I just think Tebow and the Gator's want it more.
Pick: Florida 27 - Alabama 24

3 Texas vs 22 Nebraska - Big XII Championship Game in Arlington, TX
Favorite: Texas, -14.5
Probably the second most important game of the weekend, if Texas wins they would probably take on the SEC winner for the National Championship. Texas has been rolling over opponents all season, putting up at least 34 points in every game except against Oklahoma on their way to an undefeated record. They've also allowed more than 20 points just twice, against Texas Tech(24) and Texas A&M(39). Nebraska, with three losses, has been up-and-down this season, and their defense has clearly been much more consistent than their offense. However, they did give up 31 points to Texas Tech. This game looks like it might be a repeat of that one.
Pick: Texas 38 - Nebraska 17

10 Georgia Tech vs Clemson - ACC Championship Game in Tampa, FL
Favorite: Georgia Tech, -1
Georgia Tech has been making people look silly this season. They don't have much of a passing game, but their running game is very strong. So strong that they ran for 317 yards against UNC, who had the #1 ranked run defense at the time. Their two losses have come against teams that could attack their runners and limit the damage. Clemson's defense gives up 135.1 rushing yards per game. With a number that high, GT should be able to exploit any holes and probably double it.
Pick: Georgia Tech 34 - Clemson 28

5 Cincinnati @ 15 Pittsburgh
Favorite: Cincinnati, -1.5
Though actually a scheduled game, Cincy-Pitt this season is the defacto Big East title game, with the winner taking home an automatic BCS berth. The low spread on this game shows just how closely these teams match up. The differences in stats per game are mostly in Pittsburgh's favor, but are almost negligible. Still, the fact Pittsburgh scores more points and has a better run offense, while Cincy has the weaker run defense should worry Cincy fans. Add to that the underrated play of Pitt QB Bill stull, and I'm leaning towards Pitt taking this one.
Pick: Pittsburgh 35 - Cincinnati 31
